SABABC President Jindy Bhalla is a partner at the downtown Vancouver law firm of Edwards, Kenny & Bray LLP. Jindy has been actively involved with SABABC since its inception, having served on the board and as treasurer for most of SABABC’s existence. As a senior member of the bar with over 30 years of experience, Jindy has long recognized the challenges faced by many of the younger members of the profession, and has devoted a substantial amount of his time assisting them with their development as successful lawyers and productive members of society. Jindy was the Vice President Convention for the North American South Asian Bar Association in 2009 and was responsible for SABABC hosting the successful 2009 NASABA Annual Convention, held for the first time outside of the USA. Jindy is also the founding President and a member of the board of the Association of South Asian Professionals of BC whose mandate is to mentor young professionals and to give back to society as a whole.
Professionally, Jindy is an accomplished Vancouver commercial lawyer whose experience encompasses all aspects of commercial real estate, including the purchase, sale of commercial properties, the development of commercial, industrial and residential projects, environmental matters, leasing and syndications. His clients include local, national and international investors, developers, and corporations. He joined EKB LLP in 2003 after practising with Campney & Murphy for several years, and serving as partner at a large Vancouver law firm for 10 years.
Originally from Victoria, Jindy enjoys spending time with his young twins and wife, travelling, sports, music and classic cars.
